Mission of Save The Bay The mission of Save The Bay is to ensure the environmental quality of Narragansett Bay and its watershed is restored and protected from the harmful effects of human activity. Save The Bay seeks carefully planned use of the Bay and its watershed to allow the natural system to function normally and healthfully, both now and in the future.
Forward In 1995, Save The Bay established the Habitat Restoration Program to address the causes of massive habitat decline in Narragansett Bay and to develop a plan to protect and restore the Bay’s salt marshes, eelgrass beds, and fish runs. This guide represents part of Save The Bay’s efforts to restore one of these key habitats: the salt marshes that line the Rhode Island’s coves and fringe its shoreline. This guide is meant to help property owners identify activities they can adopt to help protect and restore these productive salt marshes.
